Hey Barry, thanks for the update.  And what an update it is!  That's a beauty of a buck. Looks like everybody is happy......except the bucks! Now how long do you have to wait before you can hunt the late season over there?

Wary Buck

Gotta love it all!  Great work, men.

WOW is all I can say.  Great bucks guys.  I think I would be shaking way to much to hit any of them if I ever saw them walking past me.  Where I hunt I'm lucky to see a nice 8 pt every other year or so (public land in NLP MI).  Good luck with Popeye!

Randy Morin

Way to go Barry, Gene and Mark.  I love seeing them pics of the brutes you fellas do battle with every fall.

NICE buck Mr. Mitten!!!

How long are those G2's?  Wow.

Mark is probably a little too modest to tell you his buck was taken on public land day before yesterday.

Hey Barry, I just realized, that your buck also seems to have a bit of a hole in his left antler.  Must be a twin thing.  I should have been a detective.  Just call me Columbo. I have put the pieces of the puzzle together.  First Gene shot his buck in the left antler with an arrow fletched on both ends....then you finished it off with a shot to the vitals.  Then a little while later...you shot your buck in the left antler, and then Gene finished it off with a shot to the vitals.  Hmmmm.....can I see a picture of your arrow?  I think maybe you two should just fletch one end of the shaft, and then put a woodsman on the opposite end.  You'll end up with less deer with holes in their antlers!!  I'm willing to try anything you guys say works for whitetails, but I just fletched an arrow on both ends, and shot it at a 3d target from 15 yards, and I ended up with an extra hole in my face! How do you guys do it?

Barry Wensel

Come on Jon, you're a "brother of the bow", post a picture of the buck you just got for the guys to see. I wanna see if there are any holes in his rack. I called Iowa DNR and they said because our bucks had defective antlers we could each go for another one. All right! bw

Hey Barry.  There is a post called "Good buck riding in the truck" that shows a buck I killed on public land on Vets Day.  Check it out! Then I killed a good 4x4 at home on the 17th.  Unfortunately the coyotes got to him before I did.  I tracked him for either 16 or 18 hours. I can't remember now, and he went about 300 yards. No Exit hole.  Got only one lung on a quartering away shot 5 paces off of my tree.
The trackers in Africa that Gene hooked me up with tried to teach me.... but I'm a slow learner.  They even named me "Corky" That's why it took me so long to find him!

jonsimoneau

Seriously though, I love hearing your tales from Iowa.  Keeps me going strong.  All whitetail hunters owe much to you guys.  Thanks so much.

IronCreekArcher

Great deer guys...have you heard if Daryl K. has gotten anything yet?

And these guys never quit...

Uncle Barry with another Iowa buck taken tonight.  Looks like the old Silvertip is still putting them down!

The guy has no shoulders yet his bow stays up there without glue or bungee cords. How does he do it?

Looking at that pic posted on Nov 30th; my God, is that a Kiwikee Kwiver mount screwed to the side of your riser with wood screws?!!!!

Have you no shame? The Trad Police will be serving a search & arrest warrant on you in the near future!  Better hide your stash of modern cheater tools like binocs & nylon safety harnesses & such...

I'm not one to admire folks I've never met but I have to admit I do like you two boy's style & sense of humor.  You would be welcome at my campfire and out here at Critter Crossing any time...
