Shot my new 18-1 and target ball today. Just walking
around the woods throwing them and shooting at them.
different distances, different angles,up-down-left-right the wind the shadows, branches and leaves.Just like stump shooting
but with no broken or lost arrows. The 9" field target ball is the best. better then blocks or 3d  they keep moving - try it you'll love it

Nothing beats the Reinhart targets.

I don't know if it is made by Rhinehart or not but Mike at the Nocking Point sells a multi- sided ball target that's about the size of a volleyball.

I've had a Rhinehart ball for awhile now, it holds up well.

Lets see some pics. Thats half the fun of sharing a story like this. Skippy

I've never seen the target ball but Iwas very tempted to buy a few foam nerf kick balls in toys r us the other day for that same purpose.

Keep them out of the sun and weather and they will last longer. Mine has started to harden and is steal points now because it is more difficult to remove the arrows.

Did not like the 9" ball.  Any moisture or off a bit and the arrow deflects off the ball.  The one with flat sides seems like a very good target though.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Hips has a 9x9x9 they call a "Kick N Shoot" for $20.00. Never tried it myself.

I want a 18-1 but it's been out of my budget lately.

some time ago I sewed up a burlap ball to use in just this way... it's a blast!   I posted instructions in the Targets and Backstops section of the Howard Hill Longbowmen site.   Here's a link:

It's really pretty easy and fun to do, cheap and you can make as many of them as you want

I have the ball (RFT) target.  It is handy because it is so portable but you do have to be careful because arrows can glance off it if you have a marginal hit.

I have both the 18-1 and the RFT (9" Ball)....
And enjoy them....
If you have a nice tree to hang the RFT in so it can swing, thats a lot of fun....
Oh and I'm a dealer for them also....  :bigsmyl:

I like to shoot tennis balls.  I just throw them out and try to pick them off.  A new one that has never been stuck before gives you a good thwack sound.

I have been shooting a kids size basketball for a long time. With field points it last for a good while. Im sure its not as long lasting as the rinehart but for only 6.00 its hard to beat. When the ball gets all shot up I will stuff it with plastic bags and start all over again. Lots of fun.
