hey guys when i ordered my recurve i was asked shooting style i said 3under how whould i know if it was done properly the top is 7 inches bot is 7.25 brace does this sound correct

Usually 3under is tillered zero which means the same top and bottom.Make sure you are measuring from the exact tip of the fade.I wouldn't think .25 would make much difference either way.How does it shoot?

it shoots ok im shooting different arrows to find the proper spine . i was told you must shoot split finger for spine .then 3under for nock point  any advice ?  i shoot 52#at27 60" recurve 150gr tip

Shoot it exactly how you will normally be shooting it. I wouldn't switch back and forth between 3 under and split while you were trying to tune.

Tiller is usually even for 3 under as RH mentioned.

I'm not a bowyer, so maybe I'm confused, but if the bottom length is more than the top length, doesn't that mean that the bow has negative tiller, and wouldn't that be very unusual?

Yes the bow has a small ammount of negative tiller but I dought it is enough to really matter,especially since he is going to shoot 3under.

Shoot the same way all the time,to tune and just shoot.The only reason to change is if you had worked out a point aiming system similar to string walking.I don't think you want to try that yet.

You might also double check the limbs are on the correct side if it's a three piece.  That could throw things off.

mmgrod iswitched the limbs around and im only negative by 1/8 NOW so iguess i will keep on tuning these arrows ijust cant get rid of nock problems bares are grouping low right still have more to cut off shooting recurve 52 @ 27 125gr  with 2018's

It all depends how the bow is made to how a bow is tillered for split fingers or three under, does the bow have equal length limbs or does it have a shorter bottom limb.
If the bow has equal length limbs and the shelf is above centre than your bow would have negative tiller as the nocking point is a lot closer to the top limb than to the bottom limb, but that would be for split fingers but for three under you would need to even the tiller a bit, but without seeing the bow and running a tape over it it is hard to say exactly what to do.
You need to shoot the arrows for spine as you would normally draw your bow because any change of hand position on the string will affect how the bow shoots and therefore the spine of the arrows...Glenn...

Actually a bow tillered for shooting 3 under would have more negative tiller on the bottom limb since using your 3 under draw puts more strain on the bottom limb requiring a stronger lower limb and therefor less tiller measurement for it, most split finger bows are normally around 1/8in less tiller for the bottom limb.  1/4-1/2in less tiller on the bottom would be normal for a 3under tiller bow and 1/4in would shoot either way equally well, just a slight nock adjustment, although I am shooting 1 of my BW's with a 1/2in negative tiller on the bottom, split finger, I just have to shoot a 7/8in nock height on it.  Mark
