Well dang. I just took a few final practice shots before venturing into the woods for the Pa opener tomorrow. Upon drawing the first arrow, I thought I heard a creaking sound coming from about halfway up the top limb on my Allegheny Mountain Bow. Thinking it might be the quiver, I removed it. No luck. I'm getting a creaking sound just before reaching my 28 inch draw. It's not real loud, but just loud enough that it'll spook the daylights out of a deer that I'm drawing on.

Anybody have any advice on a possible way of quieting this thing down? Please? I'm begging for some good news.  :help:    :help:    :help:

IS it a takedown?  If so, take it appart and clean the limb and riser surfaces, then apply a little string wax to both and put it back together.

Another spot to check is the string grooves, make sure you don't have a bunch of wax and grit built up there.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it's not a takedown. :(

Is it a recurve?  Check the string and groove near the end of the limb to make sure there isn't a build up of string wax.  Makes a slight noise when lifting away from the limb...Mike

I have had the same experience for just the reasons expressed by wingnut and mooseman.

Got it! It was wax buildup. My season has been salvaged. Thank you gentlemen.  :)    :goldtooth:
