I like to wear a pair of light boots so I have the option to still hunt if things are slow.  Unfortunately my light boots don't cut it after being in a treestand for a while.  I'm just wondering if anybody has tried the boot covers.

I own a pair, they are extremely nice when stationary and on the stand, but are kind of awkward getting on and off, as mine are a little noisy.  Other than that, I completely understand! I love having a nice pair of boots that are broken in, those are normally my boots I use all year round. Certainly saved me from buying another warmer pair of boots.

I have some and during frigid times (hunting not marriage) they are really handy. Like superkodiak I put them on when I get to my stand.

When I bought mine many years ago, they cost something under $40.  Don't know what they cost now but, whatever it is, they're worth every penny if you live in the northern tier of states.

I am planning on doing the same thing, and using some of the hand/footwarmer packs with them if need be.

fireball31.....being like you, I like to wear a boot with little to no insulation for walking in. I purchased myself and my wife a pair of these boot blankets several years ago. Just as others have said, put them on after getting to your stand.

Also, those air-activated hand warmers are REALLY nice to put inside of the boot blankets, on top of your toes. Lets you sit from daylight till dark, comfortably. Here is a link to the ones that I'm talking about, and in my opinion, they are worth every penny.

You guys have pretty much said what I've been thinking.  I figure it will be easier to pack a pair of the "boot blankets" in my daypack/quiver than to hump around all day in a heavy pair of boots.

Good post, I was thinking of getting a pair of those too but wasent sure how well they worked, but ill give them a try, it can be miserable on stand when its cold.

I bought the 3/4 "boot blankets" years ago after suffering cold feet no matter what type of boot. If its 5 degrees my feet will freeze after a few hours.
By FAR the BEST 50$ I've ever spent. I have not had cold feet since.

Boot blankets are great. When it's cold enough to use them, it usually means there's snow on the ground and my boots will be wet. Heat pacs won't work when they get wet. I slip my walking boots off, slide my cold tootsies into the warm boot blankets, and kick back and enjoy the pleasure of having warm feet while on stand.    

I love my Boot Blankets.  

Book Blankets do help. I have a couple of tricks that help as well,
1, keep your feet as dry as possible, layers of socks (wicking then wool blend)
2, a mat under your feet to block the wind.
3, stuff the tops of your boots to prevent heat from escaping.
4, Invest in good hats. As the saying goes

If your feet and hands are cold put on a hat, if there still cold put on a better one.

Have a pair for the wife and I, love em. Carry them to the stand then slip em on.

I have a pair and they work good when it is very cold. One point of advice, if you know your going to need them don't wait until your feet get cold it is too late then, put them on as soon as you settle in.
