I was thinking about putting a pair of limbsavers on my longbow, but realized that they may detract from the aesthetics a bit. My bow isn't loud, but I really would like to quiet it down some, and I am not a great fan of string silencers. Does anyone have any limbsavers on their bows?

I'm assuming you mean the "mushrooms", and not string Leaches...

I use them... look into the "mini" models - sold to wheelie guys to quiet accessories.  

My bows they are on:  Shrew Classic Hunter & ChekMate Crusader - slender limbs - so the mini one look "best".

I also have a full sized set on my Chekmate Hunter II.

Yeah, they work.  Keep in mind, you won't be able to use a slip-on quiver....

As to string products - it doesn't get aqny better than the Bow Hush & Hush Puppies.

I have used the mushrooms and they do work well.

My wife and I each shoot DAS bows. They came with Limbsavers. Last month I had to get a new set of limbs for my wife's bow. We got the bow all tuned and shooting very quietly without the Limbsavers. I am not certain how much they affect performance or actually dampen sound based on my wife's new limbs. After this season I am going to take them off my bow and see what, if any, difference there is.

Ugly, they may work but ya can get your bow just as quiet using other methods. Shawn

Ugly, in my opinion, for my bows. My mate uses them on his high-tech recurve, and that's fine, but there's no way I'd want to spoil the lines of a lovely Silvertip, Black Widow or Howard Hill by putting them on - and the animals have never had a problem with the small amount of sound my bows make.

I'm with Shawn and Ben. I am shooting my longbow this year which is whisper quiet but I have taken many game with my noisier recurve.

I think Limbsavers are indeed ugly on a bow...that said, I have them on every bow I shoot, even on my target bow's that don't need to be quiet.

The best method for quieting your bow is getting your right brace ht, and the proper arrow weight.  And don't forget about sliding your cat whiskers, or string silencers to the right place, sometimes you need to put a pair(2) on the bottom limb.

The most effective limb savers are the quads.

I use them on my Hummingbird recurve as well as my Striker longbow.  I agree they do take from the looks some but are very effective.  Along with quieting your bow they will also help to absorb some hand shock if your bow has any.  You can pick up the mini limb savers from 3-rivers.

Well I think they dress up a bow real nice.I use them on any bow I plan on shooting light arrows from.

For me, it depended on the individual bow as to how well they worked.   On some bows they made a bigger difference than on other bows.

I use them they work great, I put them at the end of the fade outs, the quiter the bow the better I use them in conjunction with my hushpuppy's and bow hush

Just how much vibration do these things soak up?  I remember reading that some put them on their limbs in case of an accidental dry fire.  The theory was that the limbsavers would soak up enough vibration to possibly protect the limbs.  Is this true?  Could these little mushrooms possibly save your limbs in a worst case scenario?  May be something I should look into...Mike

No matter how quiet you get your bow theyll make it quieter plus they take out any residual vibration thats left...they also protect your bow against a dry fire..not pretty but very functional, on all my bows..

Ugly is not the best description in my opinion. Sure they do not add anything to the aesthetics of a bow, esp a longbow. I would call them "modern"...

Due to the fact that they fail the "trad test" of my personal trad scale (LOL) I've never thought about using them.

If they help your bow to be quiet.. Go ahead and try/shoot them.

They work GREAT!!!  Really effective (noticeable) when you drop to a lighter arrow weight.  Hunting setup is 530 - 540 for Elk then I drop to 480-490 for Deer and I can really hear a difference. I don't think they look all that bad either.  Good Luck.
