What is considered a vintage Bear bow? I know the thread is old, but anyway....

I am using a Bear Grizzly that was bought in 1978 (not sure of the actual year made, I figure the year before or maybe that year). Looks brand new. No scratches or anything.

My partner and I will both be using '56 Kodiak's at 54# as usual! Dick

What is a vintage Bear bow?

The correct usage of the word "vintage" is when identifying the year when a wine was made.

Since the term has been hijacked and used for other items like Bear bows, it's rather meaningless and can pretty much be used the way anyone wishes.

Personally, I just refer to this as "Grayling Era" Bear bows or "Pre-Gainesville".  

Now antique is another term often used and abused also, but I would not use this term unless referring to a really old, old, Bear bow that's best hung on a wall or displayed.

I guess your never too old to learn something, asked for or not.

When I hunt from a tree, I'll have my ( antique ) 50# Bear Kodiak Mag. When still hunting and stalking from the ground I'm going to try my ( new ) R/D long bow.

I will be hunting with a 76 Super k this year, it will be my first season hunting with trad gear. I will try to post a pic.

I will be using my 76 Bear Super Kodiak Grayling 55# pictured behind my quiver, that is full of original Bear Archery Faberglass arrows that 6  are tipped with razor heads and 6 with field points   I know, people have told me not to use these arrows, BUT I still might as a tribute to Pappa Bear.

The other two Bears on the left is a Kodiak Hunter 35# and on the right a Kodiak Magnum 45#

 

I've got a 67 zebrawood tigercat 47@28, it will see some time in the woods this season, got a few old greenies to shoot as well. Todd

just refinished a kodiak mag 57#@28" don't know the year.finihed puting the strike plate on last night.today i am giving it to my cousin mike.he used to shoot a crossbow,but i got him interested in shooting my traditional bows.now he is hooked.he sold the crossbow.thank the lord!so today he gets his new to him kodiak mag.when i save some money,i make him his own dozen cedars.

I've used nothing but my longbows for the last 10 or 15 years, but this year im going to use my 1968 super Kodiak. To nice not to use  :D

Sure that my '62 Grizzly will take a walk or two this fall. Have to figure a way to dull up those white limbs though.Be good to find some of those period limb covers, will be keeping the eyes open.

I will be using my '59 Kodiak again this year.


 

My 69 Grizzly will see some hunt time this year!

58in 45# Griz here, I use it for my now daily practice to get the muscles back in shape. I really would love to paint the black faxed limbs camo, but can't make myself do it. And the stick on tape now looks terrible. I see Doug above has the old slip covers, might have to recon that instead.

I will be hunting with my 1960 Grizzly until my 1959 Kodiak Replica being built by Vintage Works gets done sometime this fall.  Ken

I plan on brinin the 1954' Compass KII KODIAK 60" 56# er I picked up earlier this year with Original bow sleeve and paperwork.She is clean as as whistle & all Original.Looking forward to the Maiden Voyage with her.

It's a toss-up for me this year. Either my green stripe take down or my '68 Super Kodiak. At the moment my '64 Kodiak is a longshot but who knows?...I really enjoy all the old Bears and that '64 is a shooter.
