I've been shooting nothing but woodies since I got rid of my compound and the weight has always been close to the 500gr range. Well I just got 2216 Legacys at 29" I had to order tehm cut because I don't have a reliable way to cut them. Plus I hate exrta arrow lenght out the front. Well come to find out this arrow is very stiff for my bow. It takes 250gr plus the insert to get it to bare shaft right. This will put the  total arrow weight near 625gr out of my 55lb recurve. Is anyone else shooting a 600gr+ arrow and what weight bow are you shooting? I'm worried its too heavy.

I am shooting around 700gr out of a 47# bow. I don't think it is too heavy. You just have to get used to the different trajectory.

HECK NO it is not too heavy...that is what you want it to be, assuming it flys right like you say it does.

And "flying right" does not mean flying flat.

Also, you might be able to get away with less fletching, (assuming you use alot of fletch), with will slow the arrow down less. You might end up with the same trajectory as if you will shooting the lighter arrows.

I shoot 650 grains from 48# bows.

My hunting arrows this year are right around 660 grains, with about 360 up front. That's out of my 50# LB.

What is your maximum range when you launching that hulk of an arrow? It looks like I'm not too heavy after all.

If you shoot critters at 30-40 yards maybe you need 8-9 gpp, but I keep my shots under 25.  I like to shoot through them if at all possible.  14 gpp does great for me.

I am shooting 672 gr. arrows out of Toelke "whips"
62", 56 lbs. @ 29 1/2' draw length. My "point on" range is 35 yds. The combination is absolutely quiet & stable. Penetration is superb, I cant find anything not to like!

I shoot 626gr. arrows out of my grizly.
I draw to about 58 or 57. The tradjectory is good and it hits really hard.

You just take a few steps closer before you shoot.I shoot 1500gn arrows from a 45lb bow just fine.Of course I do have to be pretty close to the carp if I want to hit them.  

Dozer, in the future when you buy arrows, buy them uncut and get yourself a tubing cutter like plumbers use for cutting copper pipe.  I have used one for years and with a little deburring of the edges inside and out they work great.

600-650 grains and 47# at my draw-works just fine for 3D and killing animals too. Like others said you just have to get used to it. Light arrows don't work for me anymore.

I am a gap shooter for the most part and I am point on at 20 yds. I have never shot at anything  much over 25 yds.

644 grain at 55 pounds. It is silent, and strikes with authority.  They work fine for me out to 30yards.....Hope to use it on a hog, or deer this weekend.

I am shooting a 610 grain arrow out of my 49# PSR. Hit's hard and great peneration.
