ONce a field point is glued onto a wood shaft, can it be removed to install a broadhead and if so how?

What kind of glue? You can heat it up if it's hot melt.

It will be hot melt glue, can that glue alsobe used to attach nocks?

Most glues will let go if you get them hot enuf.  An alcohol burner is probably the best, but most any flame will work.  I generally use a propane torch, just keep it cranked down about as low as you can.  The hot melt glues soften up pretty quick, but even epoxy will let go with a little more heat.

Do a search and you will find plenty of thoughts on installing heads; namely cleaning the ferrules and getting the hot melt hot enuf.

what glue would you suggest for installing nocks?

99 cent tube of Duco cement from Wally World.

Fletch-Tite for the nocks... Work perfect on all my wooden arrows.

Duco or Fletch-Tite will do great for nocks.

I quit using Duco etc for nocks-just was not holding up for me. Now I use a gel superglue and find that works much better.

Like Bjorn, I switched to cheap gel super glue years ago. It'll hold no matter what.

So will supa glue break its hold if heated up for tips?

I use Ferr-L-tite for points and superglue for nocks. When using the superglue for nocks, you have to get them lined up right very quickly, before it sets, and don't use too much. I haven't tried it for points, because when changing points the glue needs to liquefy completely so that there are no areas where the glue is thicker or lumpy.

If you use super glue for your points your taper has to be perfect.  If you have any burr or lip hanging off you point it will pull your point off after a few pulls out of the target.  It can be made to work but it's much easier to use the ferr-l-tite or buy the brass screw ons from 3-rivers.

I use hot melt, any time I have removed a point to install another I always retaper the end. I have two true center taper tools and use one with an old blade to get any glue off that didn't come off when I took the point off. I have not had any problems with this method.  

As for nocks duco all the way. Sets up fast, will hold long after the arrow has been used, and it is cheap.

Yes Tom, the super glue will turn loose with a little heat. That is all we use for field points. I use hot melt for Bheads so you have a time to line them up good.

Thanks Nocams. I've had lots of trouble with ferr-l-tite. I just can't get it to stick properly.
