How many here would still shoot their bows just because it is so darn fun, even if hunting was al of the sudden made illegal?

I would for sure!!

Sure I would. There are European countries where hunting is not allowed yet archery is quite popular.

I could honestly say YES !! .  Heck - right now I do not have the opportunity to hunt -however - enjoyed archery so much - I decided to take up the Trad side of it. I tell you - the hour a day (when I get it) is the most pieceful part of my day... Getting addicting though... hmmmm

Yes, I shoot year round, I only hunt for a little in the fall.

While I won't break hunting laws and indeed report those who do (have turned in several poachers as a matter of fact), if hunting were outlawed, I'd probably become an outlaw.

Me, I'm a bowhunter first, archer second, and not a bowyer at all (I greatly admire those of you who are).

I would.  I love to shoot.  I love to hunt.  And while I would never accept a scenario where hunting were outlawed, in theory it would not diminish the pleasure of shooting.

I think the act itself is the reward.

I agree with all of you above.  I would definitely still shoot--every day.

There's a zen in it for me that I have not found in many things in my life.  I get such inexplicable pleasure from the flight of an arrow.

I guess I will be the first "No".  I love to hunt, though not as passionate as many of you.  My practice in the back yard, and trips to events is just keeping my (still somewhat developing) skills viable for hunting.  Though such gatherings are extremely fun, and I cherish the opportunities when we meet and share our interest, I likely would be doing something else to manage my skills in other activities if a bow was no longer a legal hunting implement.

I have to agree with Wary Buck.  Hunting is a big part of what I am.  Be tough to just shut it down.

Id just start wearing a burglar mask into the woods and save up enough for bail before each hunt.

I would continue to hunt, but would move my new personal deer season up two months so it wouldn't be so dang hot.    :p

The question implys that hunting is something we do. I don't thinks that's right. It's who we are. We were created as hunters with eyes in the front of our head [prey animals] and canine teeth[meat eaters]. If laws were passed to stifle that instinct, it would be hard for me to conform to obey such a law.

Official Lyrics

(English)

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

(French)
O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux.
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix.
Ton histoire est une épopée,
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
