Hey, all. I've been lurking around this and other trad bow sites for a while. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here!
I'm getting back into bowhunting, and I want to go traditional. I was hoping that some of you could give me some advice on a few bows that I'm looking at.
The first on is the Bear Montana Longbow. Great looking bow, heard alot about them.
The next is an October Mountain Products Adirondack Hunter Longbow. I like the look of this bow, but I've never heard of them before.
The last is a Martin Stick bow. Seems like a good bow, i've heard of martin brand before.
So, you can see that I have a limited price range to work with. I've been trying to find a bow shop in this area that I can go to and shoot some of these, but I've had no luck. Anyone have any suggestions on these bows, or other good bows for a beginners? Thanks in advance!

the only one im familiar with is the montana and i like them

I shoot the Montana and I am very happy with it. Great bow for the money.

I had a Martin Stick It was a shooter! I now shoot Howard Hill's and I will say you should try a HH you may be surprised on the simplicity and accuracy of the time tested design! MIKE

1st, Welcome. 2nd, I have no advice other than stay safe and shoot straight. I love longbows and find them easier to shoot, all though I have recurves also but, what ever you choose stay within your limits so as not to burn yourself out and end up not enjoying the sport. GOOD LUCK!

Montana. Pick a weight and get one 5# less.

Hi there Luke, Just thought to mention to check out the traditional bows list on this site as there are some really nice ones

Of the three you mentioned, I've heard the most positive comments about the Bear.  Martin is nice, but I'm told the Stickbow is better suited for a very small archer.

I'm inclined to agree with bowmofo about the Howard Hill bows.  You may want to have a look at those before you make your decision.  Craig makes a very solid weapon.

Of the bows you mentioned, I would look very strongly at the Martin, because I know the Martins and Larry Hatfield their head bowyer, I know the kind of product they put out, its first rate. And like has been mentioned look at the Hill, Craigs my neighbor and that's what I shoot. A tip too keep in mind, having been there and done that so to say. If it does not catch your eye (look good to YOU) then no matter how good it shoots you will not be happy. The human mind is a strange organ.
