Well, you couldn't have asked for a better day, unless you just HAD to bring home a deer.         :smileystooges:

Awesome story. Felt like I was there with ya. Oyster mushrooms and hen of the woods are both out there now...but if they are bright orange with yellow highlihts, we call em chicken mushrooms up here. Either way, wild mushrooms are awesome...as long as you know which ones are safe.
Again, great read. Good luck next time.

Great story... Missing only makes it better when you make it happen..

A great read and despite missing the spike you still came away with a feed, and more experience.

Sounds like a good day to me!

I'm thinkin it's a safe bet that you found your arrow.  Otherwise this story would have probably gone about like my stories went last year, which was...

"I shot at a deer......I missed......again....{expletive}"
  :D    :D    :D    :D

While you were off spooking does and tying to William Tell a spike's appleless head, i was working all day with a Kinder.  You got the better end of the deal lol!

Good news on your BOW!

Sometimes it is better to miss....that way there is no clean up. And with mushrooms to fry well.....it's a good day! Good lookin'. Great story telling. I could picture the whole thing like I was there. Wish I was for the mushrooms!

Stuff a few with crab dressing, put some provlone cheese and butter over the top and then bake 'em.  Good eating!

Thanks for posting,

Good stuff. I could see the perfect spiral of that white fletching.

If I look at antlers, that's where I shoot. After I make the thumbs up call to try a shot I try very hard never to take my concentration off the spot where the arrow should end up.

Ya, that's why I had such a chuckle over it...  They were just spikes.  Imagine if he would've had a nice rack!!!
