Well since the weather has been hot and the Elk in my area seem to have a bad case of stage fright I thought I would go chase deer this a.m.. Apparently, the elk and deer got together and the deer came up with the same case of stage fright and were pretty scarce also!  I was actually headed back to the house when I notice some turkeys about 300 yards away in a creek bottom heading for some hay fields.  With nothing left to lose I quickly turn the truck around and drove about a 1/4 mile back up the road, gathered my gear and set out to ambush the birds at the hay field.  It took about 30-40 minutes to sneek into position and I wasn't sure the birds were still there.  About the time I was thinking they had headed somewhere else another truck stop in the road right where I had.  I thought he had some how spotted me sitting against the hay stack, it looked like he was looking at me anyway.  Just as quickly as he stopped he took off again. I figured I miss the birds and stood up to peek over a small rise. Well, of course the birds were RIGHT THERE! They started to putt and move out, I quick like focused on the closest bird, about 15 yards, and shot a hole dead center in her!   She went about 10 yards and pulled herself under a bush and died.  I had not realized that she was just a youngin' until I picked her up. I was pretty happy though and I got to use my new knife to clean her up.  I used a J.K. traditions "Kanati" 58lbs @ 28", cedar arrow with 145 grn. ACE standard head.

What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth
