I am sure this has been asked and answered here many times. But, I just spent the last hour working on one Snuffer. They arent sharp or even close to having a smooth edge out of the package so, I just kept running it on a stone until the edges were smooth. But, there has to be a better way. Anyone want to offer some advice? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with my 160grn Snuffers. I never figured out how to sharpen them so I switched to a two bladed head. It's a shame, they look like they'd leave one mean blood trail.

I cant use the provided link with my slow dial up. I waited but it never came up. A wide file seems like it would work to start with then the stone. I understand that the companies want to keep the cost down by not sharpening them. Too bad that cant at least make them smooth. I have been useing stingers on Carbon arrows and now want to use some wood arrows I built. I also have some Woodsmen I am working on too, not much more luck there. I am getting a good edge its just taking a long time. Anyone else got anyhting for me?

A good file works wonders. Too many people get the edge started correctly with the file and then overwork it on the stone and end up rounding the beveled edge.

Please do yourself a favor and buy the Tru Angle file system(Alias"Snuffer Tamer"). It is the easiest sharpening system available and will get those Snuffers razor sharp. I'm as sharpening challenged as they come and mine are razor sharp. Trust me on this. For $20.00 bucks, a dummy(me) can use this system. And I've had mine for 15 years. Look up Tru Taner . I looked at the Snuffer tamer in Kustom King. Thats what I am going to do is buy one of those. I think I ruined one of my woodsmen tonight. Its not as easy as it may sound to sharpen these things. The stone may be able to finish one, but getting them started and smooth is the real challenge. Thanks for your help, I think we have a solution.

A good BIG file.  Mark the blades with a "Sharpe" to see when you've gotten them flat.  Then just alternate blades with successively lighter pressure.

File, medium stone, fine stone, leather strop razor in about 10 minutes. Of course I'm a carver/sculptor and I am constantly sharpening all kinds of edges.

I have used the Snuffer Tamer with success also, but a very large file will work good too, then a leather strop.

Have a look at this. It's easy to do and will become second-nature after a while.

Jashu, Get ahold of Jason.  He has used snuffers for a while now and he gets his razor sharp.  Maybe he can give you a hand with them.  Sorry I am not much help, I have never used them.

Jashu, Here's what works for me. If you have access to a stationary belt sander, take your snuffers and mark all the edges with a black sharpy marker. with very lite pressure, hold the blade on the belt sander until all the marker is gone. Repeat for each side. The snuffers that come out of the box do need work, but this takes about 3 minuets per blade. Once you get the flat angle down you can move on to the stone and it won't take nearly as long. Snuffers are a great product and my favorite because I am SO sharpening challenged. It's pretty much idiot proof once you get the angle set.
