I've been lurking this site for a while and decided to join.  I really like the attitude that folks display here.

I've been shooting since I was a little tyke.  My dad bought a couple of bows that were hanging on the wall at the barbershop when I was about six.  One was a Bear Kodiak and the other was a Ben Pearson.  He bought me a fiberglass long bow and I've been hooked ever since.  I've not been able to shoot solid since then, but I'm back in the game.  When compounds came out I thought they were the ticket - until I lost the biggest buck of my life to that time due to 'mechanical error'.  Since that time I've been sold on shooting traditional equipment.

I've bought, sold, and made a number of different bows over the years.  Now I'm down to just one, a Black Widow HF that I bought years ago from a man I worked with (best 20.00 I've ever spent).  I know it is a metal riser bow, but it is sweet.

Thanks for the great site!

I don't know how much teaching I'll be doing.  An awful lot of variables are out there in equipment today for such a simple sport.  I'm still using Cedar Shafts with Zickeys sporting 5" fletching shot from a D50 string.  They get the job done.

Most of the bows I've made were simple flat bows and not nearly as nice as some of the pictures I've seen on this site.  It was nice growing up where Bois d'Arc was plentiful.  Some of those old corner posts . . . There was that time I learned that sinew can really change a bow!
