I'm going to make me a Torges tree seat and wanted to know what sizes work well for big guys.

I have made several that were 12"x12",I'm 5'10 and 190#. I think 14"x14" or 16"x16" should do the trick. If bigger means heavier, just drill some holes with a hole saw to reduce the weight.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I made one with 3/8 ply wood and it broke in half!! made nother from 1/2" and put an extra strip under the midde and it still works.  250 lbs
