Hi all,

So, I called Vince up (great guy, by the way) and we arranged for me to try out two of his Mohawk longbows.  One is a 49#@28" bamboo and the other a 44# cedar, I believe.  They arrived today and are both gorgeous.

I've been shooting 29" 386 grain arrows out of my 30# recurve (Martin X-200) for several years now and they fly well, save for the occasional fishtailing.  I used these same arrows for the 44# longbow and they also fly well out of the bow.

Now, out of the 49# bow the arrows land high left when I shoot.  I notice a jump in its flight; my friend describes it more as spiraling.  The funny thing is that when he shoots this 49# bow, the arrows fly perfectly straight.

The best I can figure is that our releases are different.  Can the ability to handle the draw weight also result in different flight characteristics?  What can account for this difference?  Any suggestions would be great!

Oh, I don't know if this information helps, but I have a 27" draw length.

he might be drawing to a different length.
which will effect the draw weight .
happens all the time when me and a friend shoot each others bows.
we both shoot the exact arrow. i cant get those arrows to shoot out of his bow, but he sure can. its cause he draws 27" and i draw 29". adding at least 4 pounds to the draw weight when i shoot it.keep in mind same arrow length same tips same shaft. we both shoot 30" pse radial weave 100's.
see if the same amount of arrow is sticking out the end of the bow before release. also if the bow is to strong it will cause u to shorten your draw. watch your bow arm elbow.
