Which serving jig seems to be everyone's favorite?

I like my Serve-Tite, but it's the only jig I own or ever tried.  It adjusts real well, and has great uniform tension.

I use the Cavalier and it works just fine.

Cavalier here. I have used several differnt brands, includin the Lil Spinner.. Cavalier is the  most consisant IMO.

I just got a Cajun from Bob Hildebrandt, it is simply awesome.

I have 5 Cavaliers. I have tried most and let em go. Never tried a Little Spinner and will proly get one someday.

The one I use is made by Bohning. I think it's called a Serve-Tite, or something like that. It's the one with the two tension disks in the middle.

I use a Cajun,Cavalier,Bjorn and a couple of Bohning's.They all work fine for me,I just got tired of switching to different size serving's.I modified them with a longer bolt and put a spring and a washer so it is easier to control the tension. And I cut aluminum shafts to fit inside the spool to make the bolt fit tighter.

Danny Roberts

I got the one from 3-Rivers and it works great !

I have a Serve-Tite and a Cajun Archery serving tool,  I use the Cajun Archery tool.

Funny thing....I had no idea what the name of my serving tool was.  My dad used to make stings with it far back as I can remember and I kinda of commondered it cause I tend to make most of the strings now.  Probably from the 60's.  I see that Cir-cut has a tool that look just like it called a Tornado.  Simplystic design but I like it. dino

Cajun for me--got 37 of them in use (one for every spool of serving), plus 10 or so spares.  I like to add some extra weight to them--self-adhesive wheel weights (ala Rod Jenkins), or switch out the bolt for a longer one and add fender washers.

I've tried dang near every one I could find at one time or another (except the Beiter--I can't see $45 for a serving tool), and the Cajun (Bayou) has worked best for me.  Still have the first ones I bought, and they are still working fine after several thousand strings.

I just checked the Cajun site and the one they list is the same as what I have. I'm not sure who actually makes it though. The Bohning Serve-Tite is the plastic one with the three holes in it (sorry for the confusion). I have one of those too. It sits in a drawer collecting dust.

Thanks, guys.

BTW, do y'all "spin" your serving on or wind it more slowly by hand?

I am glad this thread came up. I have two servers one is the Bhoning with the 3 holes, and the other is a one armed thing that is weighted for spinning. I would like to spin but I am having the devils time adjusting the one armed one. Too tight and the string breaks, too loose it spins but serves ....too loose. I am currently using the Bhoning 3 holer and wraping a turn at a time, its slow but It serves me well (ha ha).

I have seen people spin the Lil Spinner before, but I also can never get the tension correct.

I can get the Cajun to spin and it works well when used that way, but I can't get the Serv-Tite to spin and hold the same consistency-when it gets used it is one rotation at a time by hand.

As in a lot of things these days, the less complicated the better. I have a very simple older model something which is just a holder for a spool with tension discs and one hole in a V-groove which does admirable work. Although it can be spun to do a very quick serving job, I tend to turn it one round at a time for more consistency.

LBR

Jason, that is the Cajun/Bayou--same one I use.
