Forward Handle 3 piece Longbows?

I've grown fond of the forward handle longbows such as JK Traditions "Kanati", Shrew, and Griffins. They seem to let me get away with a shorter length bow for my draw length. I draw 30" and the 60" forward handle bows usually feel smooth, stable, and most important the string angle isn't as sharp, to pinch the fingers.

Now, can I get some examples of a 3 piece longbow with the same forward handle design? For traveling, especially on an airplane, it's hard to beat a 3 piece. Break it down and put in the suitcase!

Also, any pictures of a forward handle 3 piece longbow would be great!

Thanks, Mike   :campfire:

Try a 2 pc bow bolt shrew or griffin...still easy to throw into duffle for air travel.  Doc

Habu makes one.  Hill Country bows has one as well, I think it is called the Wildcat.  I know of at least 2 sponsors here that carry them, Sipsey River and Tollgate Bowhunting Supply.  I believe Tollgate has some pics of it...Mike

I'll second the RER LX.  I have a Griffin 2 piece that is one of my favorite bows.  But after getting the LX recently it moved to the top of my starting lineup for this fall.  Both are very nice, smooth drawing bows!

Brackenbury Non-Typical with deflex riser.  Also the new Black Swan has the limbs mounted on the belly making a forward handle.

I think some of you are confusing forward handle bows with bows of other styles. The only true FORWARD HANDLE 3-piece TDs that I'm aware of are Thunderhorn and Striker Stinger.

I woudl agree with Rawhide that a forward handle 3-piece bow combines the best of many charcteristics for the traveling hunter. I have a Thunderhorn 3-piece and hope to buy a Stiker Stinger 3 piece at some point.

im curious as to how Whips RER is a forward handle, looks pretty standard,  went to the RER site and they all look like it so thats covered.

I thought forward handle bows had limbs that faded in behind the handle like the Shrews and the BW PTF (a recurve) as well as the more obvious ones like the Northern Mist Whisper.  The other thread with the new Treadway bow looks the same as the RERs.  Is there a movement towards redefining what we call a forward handle?

Guess my idea of a forward handled longbow is this.

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

I always thought of a forward handle design right along with a highly deflexed riser. because it puts the limbs farther behind the front of the riser, in that line of thinking most of the bows you guys have mentioned would not be forward handle. I am probably wrong on my idea of forward handle though. Can someone explain exactly what that term means.

Here's a pic from Tollgate Archery. They carry Hill Country Bows. I have a one piece forward handle from Hill Country. Great bows.
