Block Island, Rhode Island, like every year. Great hunting.
What do you hunt on BI - besides striper?

Rick P

Between Sheep hunts now. Moose starting September 2, then back after sheep if I get a moose early. Duck and goose in October. Goat in November. Lots of hike/small game hunts with my son Gunther. All within 3 Hours drive of the house.......Goat Moose and small game all hike outs from my back yard.
Just this Alaskan's opinion

The farthest I'm going this year is to the eastside of the Cascades for mulies - about 150 miles from my home. The fact that I didn't draw any tags coupled with gas prices will keep me close to home.

Elk on 9-8-08. Then I have a date with a 170 class whitetail we just filmed the other day. 7 pts on the left and 5 on the right with a split brow. He'll get the rest of my undivided attention. Then to Texas fishing in March.

travel being as expensive as it is, I'll stay home. Lots of squirrels and a deer or two. Maybe get the shotty-gun out for doves and quail.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

First 2 weeks of season in elk country of Colorado, about 10 miles in on horseback where the fishing is good and the elk are unpressured.  Spending first week just me and my son, second week with Shaun Webb and my old hunting partner.  I am planning on having more fun than should be legally possible.  A dead elk would be icing on the cake.

When whitetail rut comes around I will be chasing Iowa whitetails, maybe also in northern Missouri.

Looking forward to a hog hunt in Texas next Feb.

Wallcrawler

7-10 days by my lonesome in western Montana looking for elk and pretending the modern world went away.
