I know that I'm going a little far out there into no no land with primative archery, but I have some questions.  I'm building a hickory flatbow, my first ever, and I backed it with a fiberglass backing and glued another block of hickory on the riser area.  The bow is 1 1/2 inches wide until the last foot of each limb and the riser area from belly side to the backing is about three inches.  I plan to use this primarily for hunting and would like to shoot a fast flight string on it and plan on putting phenolic on the tips.  In addition, I plan build a slight recurve slyle grip and keep most of the rise area thick and bulky with exception to a slight thinning around the deepest part of the grip ( about 1/4 inch of of each side) and a window.   I plan to cut the window into the riser of about 1 & 1/2 of an inch long and 1/2 inch deep into the riser which would leave about an 1 inch of riser left and the deepest part of the window.   I understand that native americans may not have fiberglass backing, ff strings and sight windows, but I'm okay with it. Anyone have any ideas suggestions ?  Will these ideas work ?
