It is hot out today, about 100-101 F, and its supposed to be hotter the next two days; 102-105 F. Its been at least a month since we have had some measurable rain around DFW, and theres none in the forecast. I was planning on heading out to my local hunting grounds after some hogs tomorrow, maybe really late this afternoon. Hunting the sources of water is my best bet. But I don't have a lot of hunting experience and was wondering if anyone here has hunted hogs in hot and dry weather. What tactics did you employ so that you were successful? Any idea on how many times hogs will go to water during a hot day?

Tactics: Water, Water, Water. You got any water holes??

I would slowly still hunt my way down a good creek with water look for fresh sign such as wallows on the water line.

The area I hunt is where a creek flows into a large lake. The main branch of the creek is very hard to access in most spots due to the extreme angle of the bank. A secondary part of the creek is much easier to access for most of its length. Theres a marchy are and dozens of odd drepssions that hold water. But the later are hard to get near due to the thick vegitation. My hope is that most of them have dried up or have so little water that the hogs are looking else where.

I think they are easier to hunt this time of year than any other. Try to find small water holes off the main creek
