Hey guys,
I took the shooting portion of my bowhunter certification last night and believe it or not I passed. I was the only traditional shooter there, everyone else had the new high tek compounds. Believe it or not I out shot a couple of them, after watching them shoot it was obvious that they needed to work on their form. I think starting with a recurve forced me to get it right. Anyhow I only shot one arrow out of the kill zone , a 30  yd shot at a goat, the instructor (a trad man) said I did him proud.

You know and I didn't even use a range finder.

Thanks for all the help,  John

WTG Muskoxman;
I did the same last summer, my wife too (certified). Was the only trad bow there and out shot the techies.
When I wasnt near, one of the other guys ask my wife, "how does he do that? , he doesnt have any sights."
I love it.
I'm ready for moose season, I shoot every day on my own course.
Catch a big one!!  :archer:    :clapper:

Ya I'm wearing a perma-grin today.
Steve the longest shot was the 30 yd at the goat.I missed the kneeling, nailed the standing. There was a 27yd caribou ,a sheep at about 20 and a bear at ten yds off a platform. You have to shoot both standing and kneeling at each target, two different vantage points. One thing that threw me off was the targets were placed in the woods where you didn't have a clear view. I guess I expected them to be placed out in a field. You just have to get one arrow in the kill zone, but you have to double on one.
Tom as far as moose go I'm hoping for a small one, I'm tired of the big ones that fill your freezer in one whack. God I wish we had deer around here.

Thanks, John

Don't forget about Kodiak black-tail.  That would be a neat hunt.

I'm hoping to get a Lower Yukon moose this fall, I can't wait.  Well, I may have to look into getting my archery certificate.  Would be nice to go out 10 days before the rifle hunters.

Thats awesome! I wish I had done mine trad but I hadn't yet been bitten by the bug. From a former Wasilla, Alaskan. Wish I was still there.
