Anyone have experience with the Woodsman broadhead on big game, moose size?  

I'm gonna try for moose this September with my new Tomahawk Diamond SS 70# longbow with Beaman MFX 340's and a 150gr. Woodsman screw in's.

What do ya think?  Will this set-up down the beasts.

Any advise would be appreciated, if I get a moose it will be my first trad kill.

Have a look on the Woodsman / 3Rivers website and you'll find plenty of examples of moose and other big game animals taken by the Woodsman. I've only taken two pigs with them. Will they work on moose? Sure, it's been done more than once. Are they the best for moose in the event of a serious bone encounter? Possibly not. I have a bunch of Woodsman-tipped arrows which I hope to put to good use on feral game here in Australia. So I am definitely not anit-Woodsman or anti-3-blade. I've had some awesome experiences with 3-bladers! But, I must admit to being anti-advertising nonsense, and that I wasn't impressed when I read (or heard) the advertising rot about the Woodsman being the deadliest broadhead in the world, and that no big game animal is safe; because that's such a big statement and it includes elephant, buffalo, hippo and similar which one would be foolish to tackle with a Woodsman. Moose are one of those borderline animals...the Woodsman might or might not work, depending on the circumstances (which can be said of any broadhead, admittedly, though I maintain that on larger game certain heads will be more likely to bring success). So, there's two-bob worth from a fellow in Outback Australia who's never seen a moose, but has taken a few animals that size or bigger. All the best to you, Woodsman or no!

I personally would go with the glue on Woodsman and get yourself some steel BH adapters.  The screw in Woodsman has an aluminum adapter and ANY aluminum BH adapter is a weak link in your setup.  Especially on Moose.  

I've broken a few on whitetails and will never use them again...... JUNK.

Forgive me for making the observation that the maths (or math, in AmerEnglish) seems quite simple to me in the event of a bone hit: A 2-blade head must split the bone once (that is, in one direction), whereas a 3-blade head must split the bone thrice (that is, in three directions), thus requiring more "oomph!", and hence sapping more "oomph!", in order to get through. Again, I hasten to point out that I do enjoy using both Snuffers and Woodsmans on certain game!

I shot Woodsmans for a number of years. Then the Muzzy Phantom came out and I tried them and love the fact that they are stainless. Then I tried some Razorcaps I had from when they first came out...they are very much like the Woodsman, only in stainless with the varialble ferrule feature. I can't think of one animal I shot with a Razorcap that did not go down in sight. I shot a 600#  cow moose last year with one and she went three steps and went down. I am sure the woodsman would have been every bit as effective.

Well send the woodsmans to me if you dont like them i cant say enough good things about them. Ive killed lots of game with them and will continue to use them , Art

However, if I were going on your hunt I'd get a Zwickey No Mercy and mount it on a 125 grain steel screw in adapter. Then get it razor sharp which is not difficult. A Stos is more of the same. Penetration is what you want, along with INTEGRITY of the broadhead.

Go to the wensel woodsman web site and check out the Mitten moose under harvests. The head has taken most every type of game successfully, including African, Sandy Karch took big african game with a woodsman and a 47 lb bow. The heads have been probably the best selling head since they came out also, which says way more than anyone can say here. They make ALOT of blood.

mysticguido-  Well....I carried ~700 pounds of boned-out meat plus cape and antlers....but it took 9 trips. 3 miles is just a little bit further than the deer. Ha! Ha! Lots of fun here on tradgang.
