I'm looking for topo maps that will show areas where 4 wheelers are not allowed.  I'm elk hunting in southern colorado.  thanks

Most topo maps show.....

Main roads (heavy solid line)

Secondary roads (thin solid line)

"Un-improoved" roads (double dotted line)

Hiking "foot" trails (single dotted line)

Your best bet wood be to find "wilderness" areas that do not allow motor vehicals, then stick to the hiking trails within them.

Good Luck!!!!!
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

I was back packing into Zirkel Wilderness in northern Colorado several years ago bowhunting elk, parked at a trailhead, grabbed my gear and proceded to start in or up in this case after about an hour was taking a break, thought I heard someone coming, jeep that jumped the barrier, in early season they don,t think they need to keep them things at the trail heads, so look for no lines whatsoever and you might find what you are looking for.

Check out the National Geographic Trails Illustrated Maps. They do mark the trails that allow motors. You will have to check to see if they have one that covers the area you want to hunt - from looking at the overview on my Durango/Cortez map - they cover most of the elk country in Colorado. By the way - they are 1:63,360 - so they are not as detailed as the USGS topos.

Dan:  I had the same experience in the same place a few years ago.  Only it was a couple of 4-wheelers.
