I know this has been asked before but I have a new slant on the theory.

My new B/L Elite T/D three piece L/B comes recommended with a B/H of 8".

Traditionally I don't like shooting bows with a high B/H.   They just seem to not balance as well in the hand as bows with a narrower B/H.  Particularly on this bow - it has a riser that is very (I forget which one - either reflex or deflex - sticks out forward) and just does not seem to like a high B/H.

I got to thinking and decided to bring it down a heap from what is recommended.  I was expecting a very noisy bow spraying arrows all over sundry.  To the contrary - it actually improved things immensely and now the bow is thoroughly enjoyable.

I know rules are made to be broken but this really devies all the theory.  It seems much quieter than before, still very quick and I am driving tacks with this baby.

On the Video Bob Lee says (and I think on the instructions) to obey the B/H - if one deviates too much there will be problems.  I whacked mine down nearly an inch - it is just above 7"!!

Just wondering if anybody else has tried this with their Lee.  Would like some feedback on this!

the recommended brace heights are merely ballpark figures in my opinion. I shoot with one of bob lees sponsored shooters. He has two world championship buckles. He is constantly changing his brace height, according to what he sees his arrow doing. While given most of the guys i shoot with shoot recurves, most of us run ours 7 3/4 to 8 1/4. However when shooting a new string, it is not uncommon for the string to stretch and our brace heights to slip down around 7, without us noticing a differnce in arrow flight. I feel the biggest difference in hand shock.

Each bow and shooter is different. Sounds like you found your "sweet spot". If it's shooting well there, then that's that. I don't think an inch will kill the bow.

Hey Kyle - are you saying the hand shock increases as you lower the b/h??

philip i have two lee bows 1 is a hunter 60in 51pounds at 28 i have my bh at just above 7 when it was aroud 8 i could not hit water if i fall out of a boat the 2 is a dark archer and i have it at 6 3/4 with a very high nock set

suttoman, that is exactly what i am saying. But like i said, most of my group is shooting recurves. Recurves have much more sting to limb contact. The lower the brace height, the more contact that there is. Shouldnt be an issue with a long bow though.

As Kyle said they are only reccomendations, a lot depends on how you realese, grip the bow and how long your draw is, I like most of my bows braced higher than reccomended due to my big forearms and string slap. Shawn

What bow are you shooting at the moment Shawn?  I saw on another thread where you said you've had the same bow for quite a while now!!
