Oklahoma has funny laws for hunting hogs on public land.  Basically, you can't except coincidental with other hunting.  But on private land, it's wide open.  You might check the web sites for Big Prairie Bucks, Shilo bowhunting or the Chain ranch.  I've hunted the Chain ranch and they now have hunts for free ranging hogs.  There are more.  Let me know if you are coming this way and I'll find out what I can for you and maybe even join you.  I live in the Tulsa area.

There are several ranches in Oklahoma but most are high fenced.  You will probably find more in Texas.  Keep us posted on what you find, I might be interested in tagging along.

I also met a guy that has hunts for free ranging hogs south of Oklahama City, I'll have to look for the brochure.  There are also a couple more tradgangers around here that may be interested.  We may get a group together!  I know of 3 ranches that are not high fenced hunts.

Jacob are you in the west or east part of the state? If it's the west you might want to check out California. Good luck!

I'm just about in the middle,on the montana
border. Either way it will be a long trip no matter where I go. I'm just going to go for it, that way I won't have to always wonder about it.
I finnaly got a job where I get a two to three

I would deffinitly enjoy some company. My freinds here won't be able to make it. They spend
there two week vacation on elk. As many do.

I have wanted to hunt hog also. I live in Oklahoma, in OKC. For the record, you can hunt hog year round. I have called the department before to check. They made a loop hole so that you can hunt during any regular season. Some seasons are year round.

Then I would say it all depends on what type of hunt you want. The hunt I experienced this past spring was awesome, for me. I did get a chance at a hog, but hunted mountains that were steep, rugged and beautiful. Down OK and TX way there are definitley more opportunities. Give Curtis Kellar a call, he will hook you up and is sponser here.

Emailed Curtis,

He's trying to set up somthing for Late Jan. or Feb. He said that during that time of the year he only books group hunts, which would be fine by me. Maybe a few others will be interested ?

Jacob, if I didn't have a little girl coming this fall I would try to swing it with you. Good luck down there and be sure to take lots of pics.
