Been shooting some aluminums, 1916s out of a 52 an a 45 pound bow. 150 grains up front for a total weight of 515 grains. Do many people believe this arrow is to light?

I can't speak for many people but I've always strived to shoot 10 gpp.  That was easy when I was shooting 55-60# bows but now that I'm shooting low 40s I"m up around 11-12 gpp.

If I had your setup I would be fine.

Maybe for moose, but not anything else on the North American continent.

Around 10 grains per pound is a good all around grain weight in my opinion.

I shoot 1916s out of bows around 45 pounds with 150 to 175 grain points.

Its a good arrow for hunting with its small diameter and or circumferance.

I am at 16 gr per inch on my arrows and I don't get caught up in FOC talk,  here's my three big tips I can give you is #1 make sure your arrow is tuned to your bow #2 make sure you broadheads are hair shaving sharp,#3 you can shoot your bow accurately. I am a huge fan of 3 and 4 blade broadheads. 

You should be good to go. I shoot a very similar weight arrow, just out of a heavier bow and have had no issues at all. I'm right around 8.9 gpp. I wouldn't have any qualms about shooting that same arrow out of a lighter bow as well.

You didn't say what will be on the front of them when they hit a deer. I've put lighter arrows through deer with a stinger up front. Never been without an exit, but some failed to pass fully through. I've killed deer as far as 25 yards with such a set-up. (The 25 yards deer had a large stick hanging out of its chest when I came upon it. I couldn't get closer. Not really a hunting experience; just a data point.) 

Personally, I now prefer as heavy an arrow as I can get without sacrificing useful trajectory. Heavy arrows are a joy to loose. But, a healthy deer beyond ~15 yards is safe from me.

You know, this is another way of looking this thing .....  providing that a person is hunting with a bow that is of legal draw weight or a draw weight for particular species (here you are talking about deer)  the arrow / broadhead combo that flies the best,  is always the right set up.  And when you get into the nitty gritty of GPP and percentage F.O.C. and such,  you'll see that those best flying arrows,  are right in the sweet spot for your chosen bow with regard to GPP and F.O.C. for hunting.  Magic how it works that way.  It's always fun to take things apart to see how they work.....it's always fun to tinker and try this or that.  But all too often,  we come back around full circle to just about where we were at in the first place.  If it ain't broke .........   Your set up on paper would seem to be just fine.  If it shoots for you,  it is indeed fine.  All you gotta do now is go have some fun with it in the woods.

I have been shooting deer and hogs for over 40 years with Z 4 Blades. Some are so paranoid with their set up that its all they worry about. Pick Pick Pick. Sounds like a compound shooter.

I think folks should spend more time learning to hunt and woodsmanship than nit pick over nothing. I've never needed a narrow 2 blade to kill anything. Nor did I measure FOC. How did we survive without all these 'studies' ALL these years???????

SURELY you can kill a deer with 45# bow and a multiblade. So many lack confidence in their abilities and their equipment.

I shoot 45 pounds (doctor's orders) and my arrows are 10 to 12 grains per pound with 3-blade heads. This combination works great. You are going to be OK, I'm sure.

Decades ago.....like...4 of em for me...when none of us owed a scale, we didn't worry about this stuff.   We built arrows, made sure they flew straight, and we went huntin.   They weighed what they weighed and we didn't care.   So now, with bows having carbon limbs, bows of higher efficiency, bows that shoot faster than my old Bear Grizzly that I first hunted with, and people worry about this stuff?

Shoot more.   Worry less.

My arrow set-up runs 700-900 grains depending on arrow material and broadhead I'm running.  160-250 grain heads.  Bows are in the mid to upper 60#'s.  Lighter or heavy the arrow always ends up on the ground on the other side of the critter.
