Before the internet, all we had were books! I still love reading and turning the page on an actual BOOK

"Good Lord....well, your new name is Sledge."
Ron LaClair upon seeing the destruction of his new lock on the east gate

Here are a few of mine. Some go back to the 1980s. My G Fred "Instinctive Shooting" I got back in '88. It gave me what I needed to learn how to shoot instinctively. Fred signed it for me in the 90s when I saw him and Teresa at the NC Trad Archery Championships. My Jay Massey "The Bowyers Craft" I got back in '87 and "The Book of the Primitive Archer in '90. Jay's books got me into selfbows. Both signed to me by Jay.

I'm not much of a reader. But I did get so much out of instinctive archery insights that I wrote Jay Kidwell an email to thank him. He wrote me back too. Seemed like a good dude. I've always enjoyed Peter Hathaway Capstick books too.

I wish these guys were still around.
It's gotten to the point where basic common sense, about a lot of things these days, doesn't make a lot of sense to most people.

I see "A Thousand Campfires" on your shelf. I was reading that book (Ron LaClairs copy) in a popup blind at Shrew Haven one year. I read the last word, closed the book and looked up.....a doe was standing in front of my blind. I shot her and drove back to camp. I met Ron on the grade-road going back to camp, and handed him the book back. Not a very dramatic story but one I will always remember. Books are awesome....

Just the sequence of your story made it dramatic enough.
I've only met a few of these authors but their writings have been a great part of my archery history.  :notworthy:
