I found a bowyer who only offers this as a snakeskin option he said it was cloth but he had no pics,, im pretty sure its the stuff 3 rivers sells that you glue on with tight bond,,, anyone have any pics or opinions on these fake skins over real?

I've seen and used real snake skins, the fabric stuff and onestringer's limbsations.  Nothing looks as good as the real thing, but nothing is as simple as the limbsations.  It's been a while since I used the fabric, so I don't recall how it looks compered to limbsations.  I've put the limbsations on pretty much every solid color glass bow I've owned. Up close, you can tell it's artificial, but it looks great and stays put.

My first thought was how dull
Or flat will it look,  ive put real ones on before and they just stand out.  Do the limbsations come off easy with no mess?

These are limbsations. Easy to apply, easy to remove with no residual adhesive gunk left behind. Very durable and they stay put until you remove them.

Looks great. I may have to try a one of my bows.

Probably better if taken outside but nasty weather here now. This is the cloth backing. Wanted Timber rattler but weren't available. I like Limbsations but wasn't sure how well they would apply to the Self bow's irregular surface.

They look good indoors,, in the sunlight do they look real?

I hunted with a good friend this fall who had just finished a self bow that he backed with clothe snakeskins.

I thought they looked really good even from a couple of feet away.

I wonder if the finish over them matters.

A couple of years ago while hunting hogs in Texas my son and I killed `15 snakes I skinned them but they were so big and course by the time I got them sanded down you couldn't see the pattern . I bought some of the cloth snakeskins and I thought they looked better than the real thing .

I agree with Tim. I'll see if I can get a photo of the bow I mentioned.

These cloth skins came from Pine Hollow. I talked briefly with Mike, he said
Spray with Poly. I liked it a lot in person. Thinking of using it one of my bows.
