Well I just had one of those moments..actually its lasted all day! I'd been unhappy with my single bevel broadhead flight..I'd just switched up bevel from right to left(I find left bevel way easier to sharpen being right handed) anyhow same exact head other than the bevel being the opposite from the ones I used the past year.. So I re-fletch some shafts I'd been shooting well with all summer and are tuned well for field points..and the new heads had their own ideas on where they wanted to go..so I went and re-fletched to straight fletch..and saw a marginal improvement.. Shot them for a day but still got random fliers..so after much heads scratching I decided to try the most twist I've ever had on fletchings..the jig won't even allow the front and back of the fletchings to press onto the shaft(I press them down with my thumbnail) BUT man o Man do these broad heads fly sweet! I know that I'm dragging a few FPS off the speed but they are so forgiving..cross wind and grip pressure seemed to greatly effect these heads before..but now I'm sold on a bunch of twist! What fletching Jig will allow for lots of angle and still press the entire 4" feather to the shaft? I think the feather clamp would have to have a curved seat where it clamps the quill? Amazing difference this made for me!

Yep helical makes em spin and stabilize the arrows! I use a Jo Jan multi fletcher with helical clamps and as much offset as the jig can be adjusted for. No trouble gluing down long feathers (I use 5 1/2 inch feathers) I just let the front and back ends of the quill stick slightly farther out of the clamp than the middle of the feather.

Takes a super expert shot to get away with tiny feathers and no helical.

I use a Bitzenberger with a helical clamp.  The helical clamp is the key.  I get very good contact (and a lot of helical) with 4-inch fletch on skinny carbon and forgewood arrows.
