Hunting last week I sprayed all my hunting clothes and boots down with permethrin. I would change at the truck and look over my clothing found several ticks on them, several already dead several still crawling. Anyway I also found several on my backpack which I had failed to spray. Giving ticks an untreated pathway right up my back.  Fortunately I did spray deet on my wrist , neck and face and got none on me. But from now on I'll spray my back pack with permethrin.

I soak everything I walk into woods with in permethrin. Boots, socks, belt, pack, hat, bandana, underwear, everything. Here in western ky we have had a bit of an outbreak of the lone star tick transferring alpa gal syndrome. In fact I have a close relative that contracted it last year. You DO NOT WANT Alpha gal.

Yet, despite prepping woods clothes in permethrin, I was at one of my kids soccer games last week, went straight from work in work clothes, and ended up picking deer ticks off me and family all night afterwards. I hate those things.

I pulled one off of me two days ago after returning from missouri and a walk in the woods of some property. I'm paying attention to my condition. So if anything happens, the doctor will know. I have been lucky all my life. Not to get lyme disease because I have had ticks every year. About ten years ago I actually found one on the back of my calf that was blowed up and tanned, like you would find a dog. It must have been there for a week or so. And therefore, I do pay attention a lot more now.

I had one on my inner thigh a few weeks back now.  Was attached but hadn't been for long .........  maybe just overnight as I slept,  ticks fire me up and I'm very vigilant with looking myself over on the regular for these parasites,  so I would have noticed it early if it had been there ..........  Coincidentally,  I had a Dr. apt the next day.  I pulled the tick myself as soon I as found it,  and at the Dr. the next day,  told her about the bite and showed her the bite mark.  Apparently these days, if you get a bite,  they will prescribe you a one and done preventative dose of Doxycycline (2 capsules,  taken at once! Done!) that is supposed to nock out any bad stuff that could start to brew IF the tick was a hot tick.  She also hooked me up with a second back up dose should I get bit again before I see her next visit ...... Ill have it at the ready and not have to scramble should I get a bite on a weekend when I can't get a script filled for 24hrs or whatever.   Good to have this handy!  I'd recommend anybody see their doc and try to get set up for this,  just in case!

Nosights , that's good information, I didn't know that the Dr could prescribe something precautionary. I just figured you'd have to have symptoms , blood work or test the tick.

I got a tick bite a couple weeks ago.  Must have been a tiny one because I always check.  Started feeling sick with flu like symptoms.  Then the rash spot showed up.  Taking meds to get rid of the infection.  Spray down!
