Looks real nice Bona.    When you get a chance PM me your address and I will send that piece of leather for your bow handle.

Yes Tim he is thrilled with it. I have given him a few arrows that are working out great for him and his bow. Also gave him some Woodsman BH and a file to sharpen them and a BH quiver.

I just recieved a package from Bill Skinner with a gift of cane for arrows and EIGHT of his stone points!!! He told be he was going to send me some but I had no idea! They are beautiful! And to go out on a hot Alabama day and cut rivercane to give away! You people are amazing, and right there is one more example!
Was trying to put pix up but I have to go. The process is taking too much time.

October 1st is fast approaching. I've picked up several wool sweaters at thrift stores and a couple pair of wool pants but they are pretty thin. I plan to order some heavier wool pants from L.L.Bean this week, then I should be all set. Finishing up some more arrows too.

Firt hunt of the season:
I have some problems at work. And after working three 12 hr. shifts (nights) I go to a friends and talk for several hrs. When I get home in the afernoon, I notice my dog has not come out to see me at the car. She is standing at the bottom of the steps to the porch and her back, right leg is dangling oddly. She has evidently been hit by a car and her leg is broken! She is at the vet and her leg should be pinned by now.
I have some sleep to catch up on, but it will have to wait. I was able to get up and out before light. But in all the commotion I forgot my camera. I went back about 9 o'clock and got it so I will add picks as if I had it from the start.
I get to the blind that I built last spring and settle in.

Roy, I'm a Mrs. Don't worry about it, happens all the time!
Thanks guys.

First off let me tell you, my husband has cut the soybeans off the field and I don't have to go around it anymore! It's only about 500 yds as the crow flies.

Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"

I don't think I put enough burnt cork on my face.

Here is my blind that I built last spring. Can you see my bow with nocked arrow to just left of center?

My view from inside the blind. There is a deep ditch to the right where there is a well used crossing. Our prevailling wind is out of the SW here so I can only hunt this spot with a N, NW or NE wind. We have a NW wind today.

This shows my primitive arrows in the deer hide quiver I made several years ago according to Jay Massey's instructions in one of the Bowyers Bibles. You can also see the black plastic stuff (I think it's used as a snow break), I used as a base for the blind. I weaved vegitation through the holes then piled stuff up in front of it, and secured it with a few stakes.

It was a much cooler morning. I had on the morino wool underwear I got from 3RA, 200 series. I think I will need the 400 series. I also wore a lite wool sweater and wool dress pants from GW, my 1812 period cotton shirt with a hand woven sash. I took my dad's wool blend brown plaid shirt along in case I needed it. I had my wool socks on from Jeff in New Zealand and the knife he gave me on the sash. The only camo I had on was the extra long armquard that I like so well and my knee boots. There was a pretty good breeze and I got a little chilly but not too bad! This is the first time I have not hunted in camo. And the first time in some time that I was hunting with a primitive bow and arrows.

As I'm sitting there a couple of raccoons walk behind me. The first one walks past my scent stream then comes back sticking his nose up in the air, sniff'n, then wanders off unconcerned. The next hits my scent and immediately sticks his nose in the air. He took several seconds think'n and sniff'n then slowly turns and goes back the way he came.

Not long after that I went to the house to get the camera. When I got back I tried to get a picture of the ditch crossing but I don't hold hutter button down long enough on these digital cameras sometimes and I didn't get it. BUT, in the process of doing this I spooked a deer. I saw a flash of white and it didn't sound like dainty feet pounding the dirt to get out of there!
