Second arrow completed.
This one is too weak spined. But just by a little. I may cut the sinew at the splice and cut a little off the foreshaft. It is a little crooked but spins nicely. It is 630gr. with a 125gr point and an osage foreshaft, horn nock. I want to put some artwork on these arrows. If anyone has a suggestion let me know.

I have decided to go with Wildcat Canyon arrow shafts spined at around 40lbs., tapered and footed with purple heart. With a 160gr. point it flies nicely and has a little over 19% FOC. It is weighing in at about 550gr. I don't think that's too bad for a 37-38lb BBO bow. What do some of you think about this combo?
I plan to keep trying for a cane arrow that would be appropriate but will have these I I can't get the primitive arrow I want.
I still plan to put stone points on them but will have some grizzlies ready too.

What is wrong with your other cane arrows that is preventing you from using them?  They look great, and unless they fly wild, I'd think they'd make for nice addition in your quiver.  Tim

I'm still going to work on the cane arrows. But the other shafts are flying so well that I thought I would have Milt work some of these up for me as back up if I can't get what I want from my cane shafts. They are so labor intensive it is going very slowly. So far one too stiff and one too weak. I was thinking it would be nice to have a lathe to work down my foreshafts.

But I'm glad to hear that you like them!

Can you chuck the foreshafts in a drill and sand them to where you need em?

I did use a belt sander and got them along a good bit quicker that way. I just held them by hand. If not for thaat it would have taken forever.

I'm just back from the U.P. of Michigan for the family vacation. We have been up there several times over the years and really enjoy it. I was able to pick up some articles of wool clothing at a thrift store. 100% wool suit jackets for .50 cents a piece! Also got a plaid shirt and a sweater marked down at a gift shop also 100% wool. Looked over the moose range too.
I was at the Heartland Bow Jam on Sat. Trying to finish up my friends sons bow. Then back to working on primitive arrows

I finished the bow for my friends son. I am pleased with it even though it cracked at the handle. I don't know if my repair will hold but I will explain to him to stop pulling immediately if he hears cracking and I will try a better repair.
I worked on the arrow that was spined too weak, taking about an inch off of the foreshaft and it shoots beautifully! I will go through my cane shafts and see if I can find at least two more that might work.
I mentioned this in another thread, but I have acquired several articles of wool clothing that I plan to hunt in with this bow and primitive arrows. One shirt is a brown plaid, 80% wool shirt that was my dads. I plan to find some wool to make legg'ns to wear with an indian style skirt.

Thanks for the support Jeff! I will post some pix. I put a snakeskin cresting, like Ferret shows on another thread, on the one I have ready. Not as craftful as his but functional and kinda perty.
I'm thinking about using my wool blanket to make leggings. It is a blue trade blanket.
I was wondering, do deer see blue better than other colors? On the bottles of "camo" detergent that I have bought, I shows that deer see the hunter better that is wearing clothes washed with blueing added.

Kenny, those are turquoise beads. I put one on the handle of the bow with the leftover cordage from the lacing.
