:help:  OK, lets see if I can explain this without confusing anyone.
I have two bows, a Bear Black Bear, and a '65 Kodiak, and both bows are marked at 60" in length.
The string I have now goes on the Black Bear and it fits perfectly, with a perfect brace height. I tried putting it on the Kodiak because I don't have one for it right now and the brace height was 9", and on the Black Bear it's around 7".
This seemed very odd to me and I was wondering why this is? I don't know what length the string is but shouldn't it fit both?
I ordered a 56" string for the Kodiak, would that work?

Also I have a few other questions and I would really appreciate it of you guys could help me out.

First. How do you measure a bow string, from very end to very end? Or from where it splits into the loop on both ends?

Second. The string on my Black Bear (actually it's my dads, but he shoots wheely bows now        ), the serving is not the plastic kind but the thread kind and it's kind of old. Anyway I probably have only shot a few hundred arrows out of it, but where I nock the arrows each time the serving is really worn out. Is this because it's an old string or because the nocks on my arrows are too tight around the serving? And does this happen to anyone else?

Thanks for your help guys, you have no idea how much it helps me with my trad bowhinting passion.

Bakes,

If no one gives you a good answer, I might be able to help you out with a string for your Kodiak. I live pretty close to you down by Port Sheldon. PM or email me your contact information if you want to talk about this.
