I am going to order a black widow takedown Monday and have narrowed my choices down.  I'm getting cocobolo riser with either osage or yew limbs.  I was hoping someone could post some pictures if they have one of these combos.  Thanks for any and all replies.

I have the same problem! I have a PSA III and a set of dark bacote limbs. I'm gonna order a riser for the bocate limbs but am hung up on which wood to use. Bacote is safe but I would like something different than everybody else. Nice part is, it will be a great shooter even if it were painted orange!

grizzlyxx

jds3 what wood is that in the riser?  Thanks for the post guys, those are some awsome looking bows.  I also agree that they would shoot great even painted orange but if yur going to shoot a great bow it might as well be a looker.

Brazilian rosewood. The Widow boys used wood imported in the 1970's I think. It has been illeagal to import for decades. What an awesome bow they made for me. A 50th anniversary bow that shoots better than it looks.

Call Roger, he can help you with wood options.

Here's a pair.  Bow on the left is a Tulipwood riser and Osage limbs.

Bow on the right is a Coco riser with Osage limbs.  Both bows have copperheads done by the boys in Nixa.

Hey pal, Coco and Osage get's my vote. After thinking about it, I just can't see not ordering a new Widow and it not having Osage...  Either way I'll still want to shoot it!

Well, I really like the osage, but I'd rec going w/bamboo cores.  Having had an sav w/the bamboo, I can say I prefer that feel.  Some folks say it doesn't matter, but it's sure a personal thing. My BW inventory currently consists of a plx osage, and the only thing I'd change would be to give it bamboo cores. Tge

Here is my PSAV. I had em stain the limbs dark to match the Ironwood.

This post is killing me!!!!!!! My new widow is due within the next two weeks and the anticipation is terrible (or sweet?)i went with kingwood, just like the cover of the last catalog. These bows are quite handsome, maybe for the next one.....good luck with your choice!

Those are some beauts.  I have 56" PSAX coming in a few weeks......cocobolo riser / kingwood limbs, without any phenolic in the bow.
