I have been shooting and hunting with traditional bows for a little over 20 years. I have always used carbon and aluminum. I have always admired beautiful wood arrows, but I just never really gave them a chance for hunting. After talking to several buddies that shoot and hunt with wood, I decided to build a dozen Surewood arrows. Last week I killed a nice doe with one of my wood arrows that I built. It was something extra special about it, I just can't explain it.

50 # Wes Wallace Mentor recurve. Surewood arrow with Zwicky No Mercy double bevel.

Once you go wooden, there is no going back, wooden arrows are special. As for the picture, I was taught to rotate it 4 times (a full 360) in your photo editor before posting. Seems to work for me, crazy eh?

Nice Deer too, Congratulations!! :-)

Horsehide

First doe of this season. Cedar arrows tipped with 160gr Ribtek. She dropped within sight of my stand.

Second doe. Douglas fir arrow with 175gr Abowyer Wapiti. Took out both lungs and she ran for 40 yards before dropping.

Horsehide

First boar I ever shot. Same arrow as for the second doe. He went about 60 yards with the arrow hanging out on his off side, then another 15 after it dropped off. Blood trail was good and Bisch's buddy Zeke had no trouble recovering this big guy.
All three animals were taken at the London Oaks Ranch in Texas.

Not a huge trophy but he was running at the time.

Horsehide-from the looks of your shot placement on all three of your kills, they had no choice but to die in sight! Good shooting sir and congratulations!

I was telling a buddy of mine about how good my arrows shoot. They are very forgiving and extremely quiet.

I am thinking about my next set already.

Matt, its good to see your post. I guess this means you and your family are doing well. I'm glad to see that you have given wooden arrows a chance and that you have had success with them. Let's see many more pictures of your wooden arrow adventures. See, I told you wood arrows are fun.
