has anyone had any issues with Sitkas breaking?
I have an older batch of Sitkas that have taken a LOT of punishment.
I recently fletch up another half dozen, and have broken 3 arrows in 3 shots.

One was a miss on a turkey into dirt, that barely damaged the broadhead, one I clipped the plastic leg on my foam 3D deer, and one admittedly I glanced off a rock, stumping. That one broke at both ends, sending the Judo point and insert into the great beyond and the nock end was split as well.

I used JB weld to glue the inserts in.

The breaks are all similar, the arrow splitting on 2 sides.

I am to the point now that I will not use this batch of arrows on an animal because I am convinced that they will break if I hit bone.

Any insights appreciated.

Nobody else has experience with them I guess. I would just stick with your aluminums or even woodies after what I have seen from your arrows. Use them Sitkas for squirrels or grouse up in trees. And dont worry about where they go. LOL.

Jesse...I've been shooting the Sitkas for a few weeks now with "plenty" of misses and haven't broke one yet...Tonight we had a little 3D shoot amoungst friends and had some tight shots that were glanced of trees, fence posts and 3D targets with no breaks...I'd let the guys at Alaska Bowhunting Supply know, maybe it was a bad batch.

I had bad luck with the Sitkas also. The Alaskans have proven to be the toughest arrows I've shot but I was fairly disappointed with the lack of durability of the Sitkas.

I was frankly disgusted with the new batch of Sitkas, but the older set I am impressed by. I think Alaskans might be too stiff for me. I will hunt and shoot my older set of Sitkas, and reserve my surviving newer ones for practice. I know I will be able to shoot them at least once each! Dem is sum spensive arras!

I would suggest that you send a note to Ed at Alaska Bowhuntig Supply.  My experience with him is that he stands behind his products and would be very interested to know that you are experiencing problems.  Give him a call or email him and I feel certain that you will receive a response.

BTW I was not trying to publicly trash Grizzlystiks,   just stating how I felt each time they broke so easily. They fly great, just don't know if I can afford to replace these with some more Sitkas if this is typical.

I have had three break just shooting into excelsior bales. They split at the tips and I lost the insert and head in the bale. I have had a few inserts pull out in the bale when using JB Weld. I m switching back to Devcon epoxy. I didn't seem to have problems with it.

I think the JB weld is a contributing factor to be honest. The only insert that was pushed in was the one that clipped the plastic deer leg.
