Has any New yorkers been seeing any kind of carp activity? I have been looking but so far nothing happening.

The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

Me neither Jim.Been checking some of my spots and haven't seen any thrashing around in the shallows like they usually are by late May.Gotta start soon, though.

Here in Michigan, Saginaw bay near AuGres, we found a few on sunday. The water was VERY cold, but in the sheltered bays, where the water didn`t move much, it was much warmer. The fish found these spots, and we managed to get nine of them before we spooked them out into deeper water.

Activity is way behind normal for this time of year, and the cold nights we have had coupled with the cooler than normal days are sure the cause.

I killed 15 of them in Vancouver Wa a few days ago. I never understand why I do it. Not to knock those of you that love the game but for me its just killing.I leave them on the bank for the crows or like last week there were a bunch of Russians that I gave them to.Apparently they love to eat them.By next year I will probably forget that I don't really like shooting them and go one time and do it again.Definition of insanity:Continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results.I guess I qualify.

Jim, here on the Mohawk, the water is boiling with them in the shallow bays.Had to work today but I spend a lot of time scouting,,,, uh I mean on foot patrol and today as I was watching several groups rolling on the surface a big old doe appeared behind them on an island. It was very cool but unfortunately no camera. If I had a boat I would be all over them this afternoon.I have seen this activity for the last 2 days only so maybe theyre just starting.

When I consider the detriment the carp causes to waterfowl habitat and to the other fishes (and the fact that one carp can lay 300,000 eggs), it's a very worthwhile endeavor.   ;)

...and then there's carp pie and boiled okra...  :bigsmyl:
