Well, my good friend Ray Hammond invited me up to his hunting place just north of Savana, GA in SC for a weekend of chasing pigs and I was all for it.

Drove through some nasty weather to get there but arrived safe and sound to a little piece of heavan. What a beautiful piece of proberty. I think Ray told me it was 9 miles square. A very comfortable camp with everything one would need. And our friend CJ Pearson joined us.

Next morning dawned clear and crisp and with the rain from the previous day it made for some silent stalking.

Ray took me off around a place called "Blue Lake" into the swamp. We walked a bit silently moving slowly through the swamp and pig sign was everywhere.

After a bit of walking Ray stopped and whispered "Hogs". There they were about 25 or 30 yards off the trail we were easing along. About 6 or 8 bedded hogs. The wind was perfect so I eased forward to around 15 yards so I could identify the one I wanted to shoot without hitting more than one. I drew the Brack to my nock point and the AD Trad flew perfect entering behind the ribs on the near side and exiting the armpit on the off side. The pigs all jumped up not knowing what happened, then took off. Mine stumbled a few feet, fell over then got back up and limped after the rest of the sounder. He only made it about 25 or 30 yards and went down again, for good. He was easy to follow with the bright chartruse fletching sticking out of him. With him laying down the arrow went through but stayed in him. What a rush. I cannot thank Ray enough.

What with the full moon and cool temps we never managed to get on any mor pigs but the place is loaded with them as well as deer, armadillo, racoon, bobcat and yotes.

Here is a pic of my hog. Small eating sized boar.

Marty,

you have noting to be sorry for, we were on pigs every time we went in, the wind or something just kept messing us up, thats hunting. You are a great person to hunt with and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you!
