Hello,

I am new to this site but not to bow hunting although I have done little in the past few years.  I sold my Hoyt compound a year ago in order to get back to what I was raised shooting.  My first bow was a Sears and Robucks (sp) fiberglass job that was handed down from my father.  It was only good for rabbits and such, but it supplied hours of entertainment to a kid growing up in the woods.

I plan to purchase a new resurvey upon return from Iraq, and would like to know what the general thought is on today's market.  I am not trying to start any arguments about who has the better deal, just where to start my research for the bow I plan to shoot the rest of my life.  

I have already viewed the Black Widow site, as they are my home state boys I will defiantly stop by their shop to try a few out before I purchase.  So far, they have a real good look, but I can tell nothing about their bows or any other for that matter, other than it is pretty in a picture and the general feed back from the guys actively shooting.  

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If this is the wrong area of the site to pose such question, I apologize.

First off-Thanks for your service!
Second- when you get home you will be best served if you can go to a few big trad shoots where you can try bows until your arm drops off.
The best bow you can buy is the one that fits you and draws the best. Don't overbow in weight as you will need to build a good form for good shooting.
In the unlikely event that only 1 bow will serve your purposes I wish you good luck in this great journey.

I know that actually shooting the bow will be the only way to truly find the one, or the one that gets me back into bow hunting.  I guess what I am looking for is what companies or custom bow makers to start researching and gaining product knowledge.  With the 2 wheel bows it is very easy, type in Mathews or Hoyt, or any sporting goods store and you can get countless details.  It seems to be a little harder to gain the same info on traditional bows.

Any site's or studies on both recurves and LB would be greatly appreciated; something as simple as comparing both styles with statistical information.  I would also like the opinion of a few of you grey beards out there.  Like what has been tried and true for you over the years.  

I will continue to scavenge this site; it is overwhelming with information and probably already has the answers I seek.
