I have a bamboo selfbow that I bought a few years ago that has A LOT of hand-shock, which I think is affecting my accuracy. Is there anything I can do to reduce it?

Maybe. Limb tip lightening and  possibly retillering could make it better-but a lot depends upon what there is to work with.

is it a bend in the handle bow or does it have a handle area that has been build up?

When you say bamboo self bow are you talking an all boo bow, laminate bow or backed bow?  Generally the reason for hand shock is that the tips are to massive but sometimes it is limb timing that causes it.     Pat

Narrow the tips to about 1/2" wide for the last 5" of the limbs.  Make sure tiller is good.  Shoot heavy arrows.  Wrap the handle with something soft like foam tape.  Lay another handle wrap on top of it.

Continuing with John's suggestion, if the handle is blocky with "corners" in the grip area I would round everything off if you have sufficient wood. I don't like squarish blocky handles/grips because any handshock seems to be exaggerated there.

I believe it is backed with bamboo. The tips are about 1" thick.

can you post pic's... also do what John said.

Technically it is a backed bow, not a self bow. That why I asked.
