I got in the 190's I ordered and glued 125 gr steel adapters in spin tested and started to shoot them. I looked at one after a few shots and it is split at the braze in the rear.    

The inserts do not fit all the way down in the head and this one drove in deeper and split the head . The inserts are 11/32 and the heads seem out of round ? Anyone seen this before or is quality going down with the high demand ?  Thanks Drew

The out of round has been around for a long time.  When Harry Elburg made the heads the ferrules were round.  Thats not anything new.  Never seen one split like that though, what did you shoot it into? dino

yup i got two like that and i put it down to the steel insert. i then put alum inserts in to the two i had left and shot them and no problem.    try the alum inserts bro.

I've never seen a Grizzly of any weight split like that.  Thanks for posting.

Andrew, Thank you for posting!!! That's most interesting.

I've NEVER had that happen, and I seriously doubt that anyone has shot more of the 190 Grizzly BH's into stuff of all sorts than I have - and nowadays most all those I use are on 125 gr. steel adaptors.

If a split like that happend with one of the 190's I'd shot, I'd certainly contact them and, if they wanted, Id'd send them the head back, so they could see it. This sounds like a serious quality control issue, and needs to be called to their attention (ASAP), as well as that of other bowhunters.

I certainly hope the folks at Grizzly respond/reply better than what I received from 3-Rivers, regarding the breaking 75 grain steel adaptors! Whenever we bowhunters find some piece of equipment that isn't 'up to snuff', we really should make it know. It benefits all of us, and bowhunting in general.

I've never had that happen, the short adaptors would of course be more likely to have that happen. I'm not overly concerned since it was the braze line that separated and in thousands of heads, they aren't all going to have perfect braze lines, thats one reason why I would never hunt with a head I had shot a number of times first.

You are so right, Rick. I've never had it happen either. I have used both aluminum and steel adapters, but not the short adapters.

I always work them up and shoot them a good many times prior to sharpening and committing to using a specific head for animals.

I'll bet they want to see that one!

How are the other ones in that same package??? Can you see any differences in them, one to the other, in that braze line?

Ray : I have shot some of the others and no problem yet , shooting into deer target . I am using long adapters so its not the length . I guess I'll have to see what happens.  Thanks Guys .  Drew

A couple of nights ago, before I read this post, I was messing around and tried to put a 100gr steel adapter into an old green Bear razorhead, it didn't fit. There is approx. 0.19" of adapter still exposed, (about 2 threads).
Is this close to the amount you didn't have fully seated Drew? Or am I way off base. I am just wondering if there is a quality control issue with the adapters or is the interior diameter of the old razorheads not compatible with the new steel ones.
I know they originally came with the short aluminum shaped like the 75gr steel.

I wonder if the steel insert problem we are having is related to Dr. Ashby's problem with the 75gr adapters breaking off? Quality control or just poor manufacturing?
As a side note, do you (or anyone else) know if the longer 100 gr adapters would fit in an old green Bear Razorhead? Or is the broadhead just designed for the shorter adapters.(like the 75's) I know they used to make a "saw" to cut away wood arrows to make the bleeder blades fit.

As a side note, I bought the 100gn steel adapters to add more weight to the front of my arrows with woodsman broadheads, I haven't had the chance yet to remove the original adapters from the woodsmans so I don't know if they fit these or not,
