what would be lowest arrow grain weight you would hunt for deer with total 400 450 500????? thanks

jacobsladder

i would say shoot the heaviest arrow you feel the most confident with putting in the vitals... any of the 3 will kill a deer with a solid vital hit no problem....just stay above your bowyers minimum grains per pound...

I would say 450 for me, although, the older I get, the heavier my arrows get.

Cherokee Scout

I know a man who got complete pass thru on a deer using a 35# bow and 330 gr arrow. If you hit them in the lungs, you 'got em'.

I would say a lot depends on the performance of the bow.I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a deer with a 400 grain arrow doing 200 fps.

If however you had a choice of a 400 grn doing 170fps or a 500 grn going 160 fps,I would pick the 500 grn.
