I ordered a set of recurve limbs and two longbows from him in the last year.

His website is gone.  He has an **** store that he sells from now.

BTW I have two of his longbows for sale in the classifieds.  Nothing wrong with them just trying to fund another bow I bought.  But if you want to get a Bighorn with no hassle buy one of these......

I had good luck about 18 months ago when I bought a new longbow for my 15 year-old son from Ron Nelson on the auction site.  It took a couple of weeks longer than he had said, but I got it in plenty of time to give it to my son as a Christmas gift.  It is a great bow for the money.

I've noticed that his web page disappeared and have read that some are having trouble contacting him.  I'm sorry to hear this because he seemed like a nice guy.  I think he lives in Johnstown, Colorado, so you should be able to find a phone for him.

String Cutter,     I Have a Bighorn Recurve that i was going to trade for another bow. The guy i was going to do the trade wanted with to go to his web site abd read about the bow.

I had a Bighorn recurve about 10 years ago, one day when I strung it up and pulled it back around 3 years ago to warm it up the limb just snapped in two for no reason that I could see.  The bow was about 10 years old and had low mileage never abused and always taken care of.

Oberon-  I had a similar experience fall of 05. Set of limbs I had shot (my only bow) for about 10 years just blew up on me. I got the bow used. It was an early 80s model. A second set of limbs broke at the nock 10 minutes later. Ordered a new set of limbs from Ron last May or June. Was in CO for a confrence in August so I stopped by his shop to pick them up. A longish story but the short of it is they weren't ready. A month and a half later they showed up in the mail. Parcel post and uninsured... Took almost two weeks in the mail and I was in a hurry. Missed the opening of the season so I didn't hunt with them. They are beautiful though. Excellent craftsmanship. If your not in a hurry, I'd place an order, but make sure you have a backup bow. He is a pleasant enough guy.

Mike, I've already been told about what happened to you. And your not the only one I've been told about either??? It's got me somewhat worried for myself and several others who've contacted me on their own???
But, Mine is only 10 days over due. So I can't really say much ??Yet???.. There are others that have been waitin much longer>>>

Ron indicated on his last **** auction site that he would no longer be auctioning and that all bows would be at a fixed price.  If you email him, he will respond, but don't waste time trying to phone. I posted on the l-wall that he yold me that he had taken on too much work and was way behind.-Pup

oberon.....not sure what that has to do with the topic. The only reply I can give to your comment is I've got 6 Bighorns, a few older than 10 years, and none have ever failed me. Bighorn is still my "go to" bow.

Not sure what's going on with Mr. Nelson but hope he gets it straightened out.

I got a Bighorn from Ron about 3 years ago and did have a short wait because of his brother's health problems; but it was worth the weight.  I didn't get a fancy bow; just a hunting bow and it does the job.  I think if you tell him what you want; you will be a happy customer.  I am also sure he can build limbs for the older Bighorns. You can also predict that in Elk season, he will be hunting; just like I would. I like a bowbuilder that hunts.

Well, mine came today.

I had a recurve of Rons building about a year ago. Great craftmanship and a real nice shooter, wish it had a big throat like some of the Bighorns. Did not deal with him though, but I can understand being behind by taking on too much, but stop taking orders and get caught up and explain this to your customers. We all know what can happen when bow builders get too far behind, liike 3-4 years. I like a bowbuilder who bowhunts as well, but when ya run a business your customers should come first, or at least give them some answers. Hope everyone makes out all right. Shawn
