Due to these pesky (and expensive $$) tormentors I've been forced to do home repairs.  And this is where targets come in.

As I'm ripping up old carpet I decided to make up some new 3D Targets for my Home range and bowhunting practise.

Here's what one of my current ones look like.

I have had as many as 35 of these type targets set up on 2 home ranges over the past 5-6 years and they held up surprisingly well.

You can do a search and find the original story by typing in "IBO Swamp" or something like that.

I decided to do these a little different and draw out patterns of full body cut outs and then sew and stuff them....

These were all free hand so don't laugh to hard [emoji12]

After drawing out a pattern I then cut and used it to cut out the other side to create the "sack".

This was done by using an a tire awl (used for reaming out holes in tire to insert a plug) to punch holes spaced about 4" apart. And then using wire (electric fence wire) to wire tie together.

Afterward I cut strips of carpet to stuff and pad all the right places.

I was able to get 8 targets from one 12'x12' carpet.

I made 5 Deer (bucks and does), 2 Hogs and 1 Red Fox

Today I finished off 5 of the Targets by adding some realism to them by spray painting...

Overall a cheap poor mans way to set up that home range

Real nice job on the targets.        Hope those termites are gone now!

Great use resources!  Really nice work, right there!

Those are really neat targets. When you pull the carpet out of the living room, we expect to see a full size moose, antlers and all! Seriously, a great project.

That is really cool! Never seen that before but they came out great!

Wow, time and effort well spent.  Nicely done, your private range targets would do well on anybodies property   :archer:.....maybe a side buisness????

Thanks everyone!  As for the termites I had the house treated WITH EVERYTHING KNOWN TO MAN :goldtooth: and when tearing out the sheetrock last week and Friday there were no living termites.

I'm down to repairs now that will start in the morning.

And yes Sam I have an 18'x17' living room, 13'x17' BR, and all of upstairs to make many more targets when I get to it, maybe even a moose, caribou, elk, crocodile, elephant.... :biglaugh:

Here the link to my home ranges that I set up in 2011 and I still shoot today after 7 years.

I've replaced the heads and tails once since the original year but the carpet body have done amazing well in the wet humid environment here in South MS.

I expect these to as well.

Those came out very nice! After you get done with those repairs we need to have a get together and shoot them new targets!  :archer2:

I'm going to plan a shoot for sometime in September with the boys from church. What your schedule like Corey in September?
