I won't be quitting hunting, but found this an interesting read!

Just another eloquently written piece from an anti-hunter. His goal is for hunting to cease...  gotta go its time for a turkey hunt.  :wavey:    :archer:

Sometimes I wonder...... Why most people forget to give thanks or take for granted the food they eat. These (same) people judge our life style and call hunting evil. Oh Well.

Downsouth , if thats interesting you need to take a look at yourself in the mirror and decide what you really believe.
I can't believe you even posted a link to that garbage.
There sure is alot of air around a squirrel...eeyup.

Read enough empathize though maybe he's using it as a platform. There are personal degrees of compassion, respect, and rationalization in the killing process from each individual. Right for me may not be for you. It is however hypocritical to utilize in any way animals or their byproducts while preaching their nondestruction. Heat/Kitchen.

so we don't have "what it takes" morally or ethically, according to this idiot, anyway.  so, how does he live?  Does he bring in nutrients like an "air fern"?  Ever notice how these "enlightened" individuals really look down their noses at us poor, knuckle-dragging relics of yesteryear? This is typically a "liberal" position as opposed to a "conservative" view, but in my experience, the former tends to be by far the more hypocritical stance, as mentioned above.

Sure is a great rack on that deer!!
The article proves again that one picture is worth 1000 words!

I have one question...Does he eat meat?

If he does I hope he never types another word.

I just spent more time than I care to admit reading the posted responses to the article.  It is pretty entertaining stuff, but some of those people are flat out scary.

Couldn't read the whole thing ... or wouldn't.  Anyway, I did notice two things that made me chuckle.

First, empathy, write me a book about empathy for another human being before you write a sentence empathizing with creatures we eat to sustain life.  Very little empathy in this world of IED's, suicide bombers, etc.  I won't waste any on a squirrel.  Wonder what this person's level of empathy is for the victims of 9/11.  I probably know the answer.

Second, the mention of redemption and in the next breath stating that he/she is not religious.  Sounds really contradictory and hypocritcal to my mind.  I am religious, about everything, including the taking of an animals life.  I give thanks for the sustenance - dare I say it - God gives through the beast provided for my family.  Well, I can't empathize well with idiots when I'm tired.  I've got to eat some cow and go to bed.

I always wonder where they draw the line , as far as I know I haven't eaten anything that wasn't alive at one time except maybe some dirt now and then .

Was out turkey hunting after work myself, lol.... I don't agree with the writer, I found the story of his ethical struggle interesting. Maybe he does bring in nutrients like and air fern  :)

It is easy to be an over-educated "free thinker" when your safe and well fed inside your suburban home. The world is not harmony and peace but rather a kaos filled struggle to survive it.
Life is sustained from death. Natural world rule #1. This is the system the Lord made for us. "They" have forgotten or chose to ignore this simple fact. Let these people miss 12 to 15 meals and we will see how enlightned they truly have become.  LOL

I read one paragraph. That was enough for me.

The holier than thou author of "WHY I QUIT HUNTING," Roy Dallas Gragg, works as a housepainter.

Maybe he needs to read this:

Living Cruelty Free
My name is Emily. This blog chronicles my spending a year (and counting!) of buying only CCIC-approved-100%-animal-testing-free products

House Paint is Evil
So I've been reading up on paint that's been tested on animals (thanks to Michael for bringing this to my attention!). Apparently, a lot of house paints have been tested on animals. I had absolutely no idea. For example, here's the safety data for Behr white paint #1050 — it lists all the animal tests that were done on this paint alone. They are REALLY appalling.

I will spare you the rest of the article, but Roy should read every word so he can write a new essay:

Why I Quit Painting.

i agree that the rest of you that this man is close minded and does look at us as brutal beast.  but guys, this is what is against us. BUT to the guys that would like to taunt these kind of people are just asking for it.  they have there opinion, we have ours,  you cant fight people like this with taunts and throwing that we do take animals and love to hunt and is a way of life for in there face.  it just does not show much "smarts" , and that is what we have to have to go up against this sect.
have i not commanded you? be strong and of good courage;be not afraid or discouraged:for the Lord your God is with you where ever you go. joshua 1:9

Wait until they find out soylent green is people!

All jokes aside, the world is running out of food, even vegetables, so don't worry about hunting bans. The veggie patrol will be sharpening their carrot sticks when all the rice stays in China.
