My family and I are moving back to Wyoming on May 10th. So I thought that one more hunt would be a must before we have to start packing and the work begins. After I got my wife talked into it (I just got back from a 6 week buisness trip)I was on the phone and things were set. My 8 year old son Wyatt was very persistent on going so he went along and we had a great time. [/IMG]

We had a couple of other Kiwis going with us so we were off early. After walking around in the bush for a few hours, Wyatt's mud boots proved to not be so good on the steep slick hills, So we decided to do a little sitting down and waiting. An hour later of moving around slow(8 year olds don't sit to long) We spotted a herd of deer. The Fallow deer are rutting now and that's good, The stag is always pushing the herd around. Reminds me of a good elk herd and sneaking in close and just waiting for that herd bull to start pushing the elk around and Hopefully There will be one that presents a great shot.

Well the tactic worked and we had a nice fallow hind walk 25 yards down hill from us,perfect shot. She ran 40 yards and fell over.
Those Cheap eastman 2 blade broadheads you get at walmart have done such a number on every elk and deer I've shot.

After the pictures and High fives it was gutting and packing out time up the steep hills. Good thing the fallow deer are little. It was Wyatt's first bow hunt that he had been on with me.    [/IMG]

The day turned out to be sucessful for a couple of us. His had antlers, but My bow's a lot better looking !!!!!!!!

You'll notice the "luckiest" elk hunters have worn out boots.

One hour of life, crowded to the full with glorious action .... is worth whole years of those mean observances of paltry decorum, in which men steal through existence, like sluggish waters through a marsh, without either honor or observation
