i know that a perfectly tuned bow and arrow combo wouldn't need fletching in ideal conditions. And i know that most bowfishing takes place under less than ideal conditions. And bowfishing arrows don't really have a wide selection of spine, etc. BUT, is it necessary to have fletching on a bowfishing arrow? I guess the real question is: what is the lesser of the two evils, not having fletching at all, or using those bulky inflexible plastic slip on vanes? I mostly bow fish in wading conditions (cattails) not from a boat, so i have an even short range than others whiel bowfishing, so i think i could get away without fletching. just wondering if anyone else goes bowfishing without fletching? thanks, Dan.

You don't need fletching on fish arrows. Spine does'nt seem to matter either. Most fish arrows are solid fiberglass and they're not spined.

I never understood why fish arrows were sold with fletching. Kinda useless in my opinion.

NOPE fletching is not nessesary.

Even when I used to shoot a solid aluminum arrows at deep swimming carp below docks and dams; I found no advantage in the fletch; and tore them off first thing when I bought one with that rubber fletch on it.

No fletching is neede, make sure you use an arrow with a safty slide.
