We had an outfitter Spike camp us in on National Forrest land in Colorado back in "the good old days"  1989. Although not monsters we went four for four with longbows.

Roughcountry, it's good to see they are doing fine through the winter!

Hope all is well with the family Dan. Nothing wrong with that picture...it is a picture of the results of preparation resulting in success and some gooood meals to come!

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

ishiwannabe

WidowEater

hey ferret, is that notch in the front bill of your hat for string clearance, haha
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.

I didn't get one but came across this nice 5 x 5 in the woods. Dead for several days. Arrow had less than 6" of penetration.

When I pulled the arrow out it was obvious why so little penetration. Probably a long going away shot AND d*&^$ expandable head.

I thought those thing were supposed to be the greatist thing since sliced bread.Assuming that was a quartering shot, placement is good It just goes to show you again PENATRATION and PLACEMENT are needed. I agree with 4-fletch those dam things should be banned, waste of a great bull.I can't help but get the feeling newbee saw elk video went tho store bought newest lastest greatest gear and went hunting. what a waste JMHO
